Dental X-rays

Dental radiographs (X-rays) are essential preventive and diagnostic tools. They reveal details that aren’t visible during a routine visual exam, helping us detect concerns early, plan precise treatment, and keep your smile healthy and comfortable.

At Northwest Dentistry in Charlottetown, we use digital X-rays (including panoramic imaging when appropriate) for efficient, detailed images and a smooth visit.

What Dental X-rays Can Show

Types of Dental X-rays We Use

Bitewing X-rays
Show the upper and lower back teeth biting together—ideal for spotting decay between teeth and monitoring bone height.

Periapical X-rays
Focus on a single tooth from crown to root tip to evaluate roots, surrounding bone, and infections.

Panoramic X-ray (as needed)
A broad view of the jaws, teeth, and surrounding structures—useful for wisdom teeth, jaw joint screening, and overall assessment.
